Privacy & your choices

You can browse without an account. Optional community accounts, local tool saves and advertising use different kinds of storage, explained below.

Your privacy preferences

Our own visit counting is pseudonymous and cookieless, but you can still switch it off entirely for this browser. The choice is saved on your device only.

First-party visit counting

On — page visits from this browser count toward aggregate totals.

Banner advertising

Allow the Google ad and consent service on guide pages. Google’s consent message separately handles regional choices. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track disable this service.

Google Analytics and Ahrefs counters are no longer loaded. The visit-counting switch controls our first-party analytics. Turning advertising off reloads the page to remove existing ad frames. Browser storage controls can remove cookies previously set by third parties.

Who operates the site

Pokémonism is maintained by Stone Baldwin. Contact hello@pokemonism.com for privacy, access or deletion requests. We do not ask for your Discord password or payment information to use the encyclopedia.

Optional Discord accounts and contributions

Signing in authorizes Discord’s identify scope. We receive your Discord user ID, username/display name and avatar details; we do not request the email scope. The site stores an account record, preferences and community contributions such as comments or submissions. Public profile fields and public contributions can be seen by other visitors. Trainer cards may include a favorite Pokémon and optional friend codes. Friend codes are private unless you explicitly enable public sharing in your account settings; you can remove them there. These are self-reported codes, not authenticated Nintendo or Pokémon HOME connections. Forum topics, replies and reports are stored for community participation and moderation.

Authentication uses a signed, HttpOnly session cookie with a 30-day lifetime and a server-side session record. Temporary OAuth state protects sign-in requests. Logout ends the current session. Necessary login cookies are separate from advertising choices. Account data is kept while the account is active or needed for moderation and security; contact us for deletion or access requests. Expired session and rate-limit records are cleaned up automatically.

Discord has its own age and service requirements. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

Local saves

Tools can store teams, decks, card collections, theme and privacy preferences in this browser’s local storage. Local saves do not automatically synchronize between devices. Explicitly submitting a community contribution is different: that submission is stored on the server. Clearing browser storage can remove local saves and reset your preferences.

First-party usage statistics

Our counter records page paths without query strings, supported tool-event names, sanitized event details, referrer paths, campaign labels, coarse country and browser/device categories. It uses no analytics cookie. The server can derive a daily rotating digest from the request IP address and user agent to estimate daily unique visitors; it does not store the raw IP or full user agent in the analytics table. This is pseudonymous aggregate measurement, not a precise count of people.

Raw analytics events are retained for up to 395 days. Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track, known bots and administrative browsing are excluded. You can switch counting off above. Google Analytics and Ahrefs scripts are no longer loaded by this site; their older cookies may remain until you clear them through your browser.

Google advertising and consent

Eligible guide pages can load Google AdSense and Google’s certified consent service. Google receives normal network-request information, including your IP address and browser details, and may use cookies or local storage for advertising measurement, fraud prevention and delivery according to the choices and regional rules that apply. We request non-personalized ads and restricted data processing. These settings do not make advertising anonymous or replace consent requirements.

Ad requests are paused until the consent service establishes the applicable state. Where European consent applies, a missing or declined required consent keeps the banner paused. The browser-level advertising switch above disables the service, and Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track also blocks it. Google’s regional message provides its own consent controls; use the review button above to revisit them.

See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s advertising policies and controls. Advertising approval and delivery are managed by Google. An empty banner space does not mean that an ad has been served.

Hosting and other services

Cloudflare delivers and protects the website and hosts the database; Discord provides optional sign-in. These providers process information needed to operate their services and may maintain their own security logs. Remote game images and embedded third-party content, where shown, send normal network requests to the named host. Following an external link brings you under that site’s policies.

We use collected information to operate the site, protect accounts, moderate submissions and understand aggregate usage. We do not sell account records. Ad-related processing is described separately above. Data may be processed outside your country through these service providers.

Requests and changes

You can ask to access, correct or delete account information through Contact & corrections. We may verify account control and retain limited records where necessary for security or applicable obligations. This page will be updated when the site’s actual practices change; the date at the top reflects this revision.
