Technical Machines and Hidden Machines teach moves to your Pokémon. Which move each number teaches changes every game — pick a game below for its full TM/HM list.
2,272 machines across 28 gamesTMs teach a Pokémon a specific move. Older games (Gen 1–4) used each TM once; from Gen 5 to Gen 7 they were reusable; Gen 8 onward made them single-use again, alongside reusable TRs in Sword & Shield. The move a TM number teaches is different in every game.
HMs teach field moves like Surf and Fly, used to clear obstacles in the overworld. They're reusable and couldn't be forgotten without a Move Deleter. HMs were retired after Gen 7 — modern games replace them with ride Pokémon and traversal tools.
