What is a regulation set?
A legal roster
Each regulation defines which species (and which Mega Evolutions) can enter Ranked. New sets typically add species — and sometimes restrict Megas.
A season window
Regulations rotate with the ranked seasons, so the metagame resets on a schedule. Victory Points and ladder standings are per-season.
Ruleset notes
Banlist changes, item rules and format tweaks land with each set. The in-game regulation screen is always the final authority.

Where do the usage rates come from?
Usage rates on each regulation page are imported from Smogon's Pokémon Showdown usage statistics for the Champions formats — ladder data, not the official in-game ranked ladder. Latest verified import: Jul 16, 2026.
